hey ya'll
Its been awhile. Still NO baby goats! I swear those momma's are going to explode! We do have our first babies on the farm though! 6 sweet kitties! Born to our first barn cat, Momma O'Leary. Had some more friends come for the weekend. 4 in all! We had a great time! A few days after they left we lost our puppy, Bear. She got hit on the highway, my biggest fear. I was more angry that no-one stopped to tell us. One of the kids' friends called and said they thought they saw Bear but hoped it wasn't. I was out back visiting with the goats with Tyson and my oldest daughter, Michelle who has been staying here. Karoline came running out back crying that Bear had been hit. My first thought was that I hoped she was "gone" I didn't want to go up and see her suffering. She looked like she was napping, so thankfully, I dont have horrible images in my memory. We all cried off and on for about 4 days. It was very hard. I took her collar off and its hanging by the back door. Its still hard going outside and not having her there. I'm not even sure we will get another dog at this point, we have been entertaining and researching the idea of a Llama or Alpaca, which HATE dogs, so its one or the other. I, of course, want a horse... come to find out they are great companions for goats, but we need something to scare off the coyotes, which so far, we've seen none of. I will be driving to Osceola, Iowa Monday to meet my dad. Michelle wants to spend some time with her grandparents while she is getting back on her feet. I will be sad to see her go, but am relieved she is finally starting her new life. Just going to share a few pictures of the happenings here the past couple of weeks. I'm going to try and do better here and become more faithful making the time to sit here and get the thoughts out of my head. Does anyone read this? Is there life out there?
